Settings
The Settings tab holds everything you configure. It has six sections. Changes are saved automatically as you make them, except the Security section, which has its own Save button because a wrong choice there could lock you out.
| Section | What it does |
|---|---|
| General | Your root folders (what gets scanned and converted), what type each is, and how often they are rescanned. |
| Video | How video is converted: the encoding device, parallel workers, target codec and quality, GPU decode and encode, downscaling and the safety options. |
| Audio | How audio conversion behaves: default language, CPU priority, threads, backups and what to do with tracks a codec cannot carry. |
| Integrations | Connects Sonarr and Radarr so they are told about changes, can tell Smart Transcode about new files, and keep conversions safe. |
| Debug | Log verbosity, a view of what the server is doing, and Clear Database. For troubleshooting; most people never need it. |
| Security | Authentication, trusted networks, reverse proxies and users. Password management covers changing and resetting passwords. |
Good to know
- When authentication is on, changing settings needs the Settings permission; without it the section is read-only and shows a note.
- The page header of the Settings tab shows the version of Smart Transcode you are running.
- Some settings apply at once to a running queue (for example parallel workers: the next file that starts uses the new value); the description of each setting says when it takes effect.
